Your data

Privacy Policy

Black History Salute is a UK-based card game project. This policy explains what personal information we collect through blackhistorysalute.co.uk, why we collect it, and the rights you have over it under UK data protection law (UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018).

Who we are

Black History Salute is the data controller for the information described here. For anything relating to your data, email hello@blackhistorysalute.co.uk.

What we collect and why

Waitlist and newsletter. When you join the Vanguard waitlist we collect your name and email address so we can tell you about the launch and your reservation. We do this with your consent, and you can withdraw it at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email or by writing to us.

Deck registration. When you register a hand-numbered deck we collect your name, email address, deck number, and where you bought it. We use this to record your place in the Founding 500 and to contact you about future editions.

Reservation deposits. Deposits are taken by Stripe, our payment provider. Your card details go directly to Stripe and are never seen or stored by us. We receive confirmation of the payment together with the name and email you provide, which we use to hold your reservation and to process refunds. This processing is necessary to take the steps you have asked for before entering a contract.

Salutes. The salute counter on figure pages stores only an anonymous running total. It records no account, name, or identifier of yours.

Who processes it for us

  • EmailOctopus stores our waitlist, newsletter, and deck-registration lists and sends our emails.
  • Stripe processes deposit and order payments.
  • Our website hosting and content delivery provider serves the site and keeps standard server logs (IP address, pages requested) for security and reliability.

Each provider acts under its own security obligations, and we share only what each needs to do its job. We never sell your information, and we use no advertising or analytics trackers on this site.

How long we keep it

Waitlist and newsletter details are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove you. Registration and purchase records are kept for as long as we need them to honour your reservation, your statutory rights, and our tax and accounting obligations, then deleted.

Your rights

You can ask us at any time to access the information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to how we use it, or provide it to you in a portable form. Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time. Email hello@blackhistorysalute.co.uk and we will respond within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle your information, we will update this page and revise the date below.
